Located in the Mediterranean Sea, with an area of about 570 km² island Ibiza is the most famous and popular choice for summer holidays for millions of tourists from all over Europe. Ibiza, along with Mallorca, Minorca and Formentera composes the archipelago of the Balearic Islands and together with Formentera constitutes the Illes two Pitiuses, (Pityusic Islands) or islands covered by pine trees. Ibiza is actually the name by which she is called by the Spaniards and is known around the world; for Ibizan is Eivissa, Catalan origin.

There are beautiful white sandy beaches bordered by rocks that stand out in a blue sky or plunge into an emerald sea, a paradise for diving enthusiasts.

The hinterland of Ibiza offers the eye a spectacular landscape, where far from new roads there are still uneven paths where rosemary grows on the sides. A surprising aspect is that the island is very green, the campaign remained Unchanged in as it was centuries ago. There are many places to take a picnic and enjoy panoramic views and wonderful, to quiet moments of reflection.

What to see & what to do

Beaches

Formentera

Located about 30 minutes by ferry from Ibiza, the small island of Formentera it is famous for its pristine white sand beaches and is the perfect destination if you want to relax on the beach and spend a whole day away from the ship. Directly from the port you can reach the ferry terminal by means of one of the coaches who make the short transfer. Once in Formentera, thanks to the local transport will move in the charming resort of Es Pujols. Here you can explore the town, relax on the beach and have lunch at one of many local restaurants, before making the return journey to return to the ship.

Playa d'en Bossa

The longest line of sand on the island: walking along Playa d'en Bossa, it seems to wander through the many faces of Ibiza. The beach, in all its length, it is lined with bars and lounges offering a variety of environments ranging from relaxed to local families to the super trendy, to the local dance for party-goers. The clear waters cover a sandy bottom, ideal for ball games and safe for younger children.

Playa Las Salinas

About six kilometers from Playa d'en Bossa, reachable by public transport or by renting a car or scooter. The long and wide clear sand crescent is bordered by pine forests. The water is crystal clear with waves that appear on windy days, perfect for body-surfing. Small catamarans are stranded on the sand, then the southern end of the beach, walking toward the tower of pirates, you will pass through a number of popular bars and restaurants whose gourmet food, attractive clientele and the beautiful location completely offset the exclusive prices.

Playa Talamanca

The small town of Talamanca is just 2 km from the center of cosmopolitan Ibiza Town and a short walk from Marina Botafoch and Pacha, which influences the truly international character of the beach. Cala Talamanca is a long curving beach that creates a small island paradise with soft sand banks and clear water that make it excellent for safe bathing.

Park & Landmarks

Here you can explore the town, relax on the beach and have lunch at one of many local restaurants, before making the return journey to return to the ship.

History & Culture

Necropolis de Puig des Molins

The Necropolis of Puig des Molins is well worth a visit. Ibiza, in fact, over the millennia has suffered several dominations. Undoubtedly, the Arab was the most significant. It was precisely the first to build the catacombs a few hundred meters from the village where he had settled. To see the annex Monografic Mueseum where the funerary objects unearthed during archaeological excavations have been found in it and cataloged.

Walking

Dalt Vila

The oldest part of Ibiza is considered a World Heritage Site. Dalt Vila is the most obvious evidence and best preserved of the different cultures with which the island has entered contattto throughout its history, such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Muslims, until the Catalan conquest. The best way to know is to put on a pair of comfortable and embark in the narrow streets and steep shoes that lead up to the highest point, which offers a magnificent view through the openings in the walls.

Zeig also deine Besonderheiten! Be authentic & real!

Weather

Dry season

Dry season

From December to April, mostly sunny and fresh. The best period to sail in Caribbean. Having a flat territory and being exposed to the trade winds, Aruba is always windy and with comfortable temperatures.

87°F 70°F

Wet season

Wet season

From May to November, warmer season with more frequent rains. From July till September Hurricanes are not usually a problem for Aruba, which remain out of their track.

90°F 77°F

Good to know

  1. Clothing Casual summer wear can be worn during the day any time of the year; but be sure to bring a jacket or sweater for cooler evenings from December to March.
  2. Water Shoes Bring them if you go to swim or snorkel. Some of the water can be rocky after you walk from the beach.
  3. Sundries For convenience and cost concerns, bring your own everyday health and beauty products with you.
  4. Port Regulation Be aware that often in port it's forbidden to take off the ship fruits, vegetables and unsealed food items for local agricolture concern.
  5. Currency The official currency is the Mexican Peso, but the U.S. dollar is widely accepted throughout the island.
  6. Credit Card concern Pay attention using credit cards in Cozumel. Here several episodes of cloning happened. Use cash as much as possible.
  7. Time Zone EST (Eastern Standard Time) UTC/GMT -5 hours. No DST changes during the year. Make sure to keep the ship's time on your clock to come back board on time. Be aware of automatic changes of your smartphones.

Terminal

Cruise ships dock at Estacio Marittima and not having a terminal you have to walk about 2/300 meters to get to the maritime station and from there take the bus to go to the center, about 4 km away.

Remind

Transport

Getting around Ibiza is not difficult at all, in fact the island has numerous bus and taxi lines with which you can move easily throughout the territory. The bus network operates throughout the day and often at night. The transport network is excellent and very efficient and consists not only of buses, but also of ferries, which take tourists to the most beautiful areas of the island and which represent a pleasant, but also more expensive, alternative to land transport. . Obviously, if you want to visit the entire island, without neglecting the most hidden and suggestive corners, so as to reach the most distant beaches and the less traveled corners of the area, it is advisable to rent a car.
