Puerto del Rosario, the capital of Fuerteventura, recalls distant times, times when the colonists were the main architects of that time. At that time the name of the city was Puerto de las Cabras, and the port often hosted Spanish shipping ships passing through the Americas. Today most of the island's institutions and cultural and commercial life are concentrated here. In Puerto del Rosario there is, a few kilometers from the city center, the airport and right in the city center the port where both cruise ships and the various ferries that connect the other Canary islands dock. Even with regard to shopping, it is undoubtedly the best place to venture out to make your purchases, whether they are major brands or typical local products.
