The Pontikokastro Castle is one of the oldest Byzantine fortresses in Greece. It is located in the northern part of Ichthys Bay, opposite that of Katakolon, just over two kilometers from the port. Over the years it has been disputed by different populations such as the Ottomans and the Venetians. The wall belt is rectangular in shape with a tower in the northwestern corner and a cistern in the central part of the castle. It is definitely an attraction to visit once you have passed through Katakolon.
