The Cathedral is the symbol of the Diocese of Barcelona as well as the highest expression of the Gothic Catalan. It stands on the site where it was founded a basilica destroyed by the Muslims. Barcelona Cathedral has simple lines, typical of the Catalan Gothic. Inside, note, above the altar, the crucifix of the fifteenth century who according to tradition was hoisted on the ship of John of Austria as a banner at the Battle of Lepanto against the Turks in 1571.
