An hour's drive separates Argostoli Assos, a tiny village on the north western side, recognized as the place's picturesque island of Kefalonia. Assos, being on the coast, has always lived fishery income and, only in more recent years, this has been added the tourist economy. The country is a beautiful example of Mediterranean architecture and this is the reason his most fascinating. The other is the presence of a sixteenth-century fortress built by the Venetians with the function of sighting and defense. Today the fortress is not practically nothing apart from a few, however, spoils the view that one has from the ruin is unforgettable.
